Comment Rant

Periodically I go on a tear about how many people stop by this blog (100+ in the last day or so) and leave without so much as a backward glance. But a couple of people have now explained to me that it's the word verification issue that prevents them from commenting.

Here's the deal:

You type in a comment. If a red "X" appears where the word verification should be, then you just click on "Log In and Publish." At that point, the page will probably reappear, this time with an actual word verification that you can type.

I'm sorry about the word verification, but without it, I tend to get spam like "GET LAID HERE!" immediately following my most deeply religious and thoughtful posts.

If you can't think of a comment, here are some possiblities:

"The most beautifully photographed and scintillatingly brilliant piece I have ever seen."

"The most idiotic post I have ever read."

"You are a genius, girl."

"You stupid left-wing progressives are out to destroy both the Presbyterian Church and the world."

Hey, I'm flexible. Have a great day!

Okay, I will speak up and say that I have been loving the Paris photos. Just wonderful.

(I know the word verification is necessary -- I took it off my blog for a day and got overwhelmed by spam -- but it really is a pain. I'm 45 and trying to get used to reading glasses, and I get the words wrong about half the time. Sigh.)

Gorgeous photos amd I hope you will continue to bless us by publishing them. I have never been to Paris, so it is nice to see another "tourist's" perspective. It seems as if you are having a wonderful time and I hope that the rest of your trip is enjoyable.

Switch to haloscan, dear! bye-bye spam and bye-bye uber irritating word vertification. When I had blogger, I got haloscan, and it was great.

And I often don't comment because I never get the word vertification right the first time and then I give up. Sorry.

The word verification seems like a small matter compared to spam. Of course maybe I'm more patient that some because I have to be. I've still got dial up, so I'm used to dealing with things that don't load properly, having to do things over, everything taking forever to do, and etc. When I don't comment it's because my brain has had it. But I do enjoy your entries very much.

At least you have readers, dear. 100+ in a couple of days? I haven't mustered 100 in the last month.

Love your pics, am jealous of your vacation, and I want to know when you will be poking your head into the door of my cafe (on SE 2nd Avenue in Scappoose, across the street from the police station...) :-]

great pictures of your Paris trip; I thought the gargoyles were very interesting looking.

used to comment in your journal at times; gave up journaling for a bit; back to journaling now and also moved from Montana to So. Calif. I know when I read you before I would try to comment.

I enjoyed the entry you did about your birthday; happy belated one.

Sometimes I don't have anything worthwhile to say. You should know I'm always out here and reading. I love the pics. I love your blog. I love you. If I post again tomorrow, it will probably say the same thing.

I don't mind the word verification but sometimes the font is crazy and I can't tell a u from a v. It lets me try again though.

I love your blog, your photos, and you! The word verification is just another mental challenge for me each day--something to keep my mind stimulated!

I've been catching and on two previous posts, I had to try to enter my comments more than once due to the word verification. I was just thinking how frustrating (yet I understand, necessary) they are. Then...I encounter THIS post. How ironic! I thought it was just me that fumbled with these things. I am SO relieved to know that I'm with the masses on this.

Second attempt!@#@%&#)@ word verification!

Since I can't think of a reply worthy enough of this esteemed company I currently find myself amongst on Gannet's blog, and since I am sometimes intimidated by word verification myself (I see almost everything backwards), I'll just say this:
I wouldn't really mind getting laid amidst the most scintillatingly religious and brilliantly photographed spam yet encountered.

How's that?

Well duh, of course you're a genius and your photography is amazing. Frankly I'm in awe of anyone with your kind of talent, both writing and the artistic kind.
