Miscellaneous

The Lovely Daughter has the flu. She sounds miserable. Sometimes 2000 miles is a real distance.

I went down to Giant Famous Hospital this afternoon to have lunch with my summer CPE supervisor. I waited for her on the balcony overlooking a vast registration/waiting area and thought about the two populations of GFH. If you work there, there are always at least five things you could be doing during any minute of the day. If you are a patient or visitor, you wait. And wait and wait and wait.

Which reminds me: I am awaiting the results of medical testing done two weeks ago. I haven't taken the initiative to call because the labyrinthine phone system takes too long to navigate. It will take me less time to send a note, but I don't feel terribly motivated either way.

Tipper the Noble Dog had some medical work of her own down yesterday. Then the car had some medical work done. It was a very expensive day.

As I drove home this afternoon, I saw a bumper sticker that read: I'd rather be birding at
Magee Marsh.

Yesh, so would I.

Sending healing thoughts to The LD and Tipper. And hoping your lunch with your CPE supervisor was a productive one for you. And that you get good test results once you get up the nerve to navigate the labyrinth.
Most importantly, this post sounds as though today was as close to "normal" as any you've shared since September. I hope you view that as a good thing.

May all be well...waiting is a hard thing. My access to the internet on retreat was through my director, read really limited. When I needed to submit my column for the paper, he let me use the computer in his office - they were having connection issues and so each page took an eternity to load. I left him a note that said you could say a decade of the rosary while you waited. Which I did, and offered up for people waiting in places like Giant Famous Hospital.

May the results be fine...

Birds... I have attempted to feed them at the school. food was leaving but I saw nothing. Then yesterday I saw squirrels and later a flock of starlings. In the past, I do believe, my head would have exploded. As I ended my work week I walked by a Maple tree and saw a flock of bluebirds, must be springtime. They live on the edge just like the jet stream. this is becoming a post.

I hope it's good news for you, Tipper, and the car. And I hope LD is feeling better soon. I hate when my daughter is sick and I'm so far away.

I clicked Magee Marsh. It looks like my kind of place. How about I meet you there?!?!
