"I've been working on my stepdaughter's wedding."
"Oh, that's fabulous. I didn't know she was getting married. When's the big day?"
"May of 2008."
"Wow, that's a long time away. Why such a long wait?"
"Well, that's when the groom gets out of jail."
Pause.
"Your family always has such interesting stories. Do you send out one of those annual Christmas letter updates?"

Those are the times when your eyes bug out because you are trying so hard not to burst into uncontrollable laughter...

It reminds me of some of the conversations we overheard when tubing on the Guadalupe this summer...as my son Chris' genteel girlfriend, Stephanie, politely said, "they're so COUNTRY..."
