From today's Inward/Outward:

The Deepest Levels of Being
~ by Edward Farrell

Prayer is a waiting. It is hunger; it is love. Prayer is a relatedness, and prayer is a stillness. A primary dimension of prayer is receiving, is learning to listen.... Prayer is a growing; it is a discovering; it is a communion.... Prayer is an inscape, a totality of the universe experienced in the most minute atom. Prayer, rightly understood, is an expression of the deepest levels of our being.

I have lost the ability to pray in any way that I previously knew, understood, or embraced...now I have to accept that prayer for me is my breath.

So. Amen to what you write....

When I read Inward/Outward in my email this morning, I thought of you. I think prayer is sometimes the mystery we call God/Spirit/Holy One.

I've lost my voice, and therefore my ability to pray out loud. This morning, I listened to my community sing around me - and let their prayer enter into and surround me. And it was enough...

My silent prayers surround you...
