So Far: Disappointed

It's 10:37 p.m.

I don't know how long Barack Obama has been speaking, but I am less than thrilled.

This is akin to a b-o-r-i-n-g state of the union address. Although the Senator is a much better speaker than the gentleman who has delivered the last eight such addresses.

I was looking for inspiration. I was hoping to feel a sense of I Have a Dream vision and pride. I was anticipating an eloquent energy for hope.

I feel like Emily Litella.

Never mind.

I heard the first part of the speech (held captive in the car...my husband wanted to listen.)

I was at least happy that I didn't want to throw a heavy object through the windshield every five seconds, as I did whenever I heard Bush speak.

This is such an odd time in history...

oh, I just heard a little piece of it. I kind of liked it. but, his

I think he's gotten into trouble for "only" being inspirational, and maybe that's why he pushed it in another direction.

don't know, though.

I watched the end of it, but can he deliver? That is the 64,000 dollar question...

not fair... give the man his entire time before judging the speech. I just posted my thoughts on the evening.

Stratoz, maybe I should watch it again. My husband thought it was great, and I only heard positive comments on the radio this morning.

But truthfully, I thought Hillary's speech was dynamite, and Obama's wasn't. OTH, I see what Diane is saying, and someone on local NPR this morning noted that he had to convey that he is an African-American man with the gravitas to lead this country. I think he certianly accomplished that.

Yeah. I hear you. But I agree that he was doing "specifics" because he has been criticized for being general and inspiring.

(My husband is a republican so I hear these criticisms from the next pillow!)

My very Republicam brother says he thought that Obama's speech was terrific. So I withdraw any criticism thereof.

I didn't listen. Have kept the TV either turned off, or on a channel as far away from politics as possible, such as the sci-fi channael. I am already resigned to whatever happens with this election, there is no "winning" for the country.

Sat in a waiting room yesterday at the car dealer and listened to three young(er) people discuss the election, and one of them said "What does experience matter? Now everyone has the internet and can access any information they want." (Yes, really they said that.) I wanted to break in and say that information does not equal wisdom, but I didn't think they would understand.

I am going to have to write in a vote.
